Yesterday was the final day of Christmas decorating in the Dagley household and as such it was a hectic day. There were boxes to put up and ornaments to hang, garland to string and candles to light. Also, it was a day designated for some cleaning, scrubbing, and in general making the house less dusty and sticky than it was. Yes, the fumes from the Swiffer and Clorox mixed beautifully with the aroma of apple spice candles to create that perfect holiday scent.
Since I was so busy yesterday Will had a lot of play time by himself on the activity mat, the exer-saucer and the blanket. I would do chores with him in the room and talk to him, but there was not a lot of laying around tickling his legs and hearing him giggle/squeal to where only dogs could here his sound.
After a three hour nap (his, not mine, I wish I could get a three hour nap), I fed Will and placed him in the activity gym. I then went to put something in the garage that took about 5 minutes. As I brandied back through the front door (I don't just walk around during the Christmas season, I brandy about jauntily) I made my way back into the living area and kitchen and noticed that one of our drapes was moving quite actively.
It was then that I realized that my son has rolled at least three body lengths and was on his tummy, wearing the biggest smile I have ever seen, kicking the drapes as though he was swimming in the Olympics.
I strode into the room just in time to see the final drape holding apparatus give way and the entire 10 foot drape came down onto Will, covering his bottom half, and clearly startling a child that had no idea why the heavens had just fallen onto his behind.
Fortunately, due to modern technology and Apple's iPhone Camera, I was able to take a photo right after the incident. It made my day!
