Will recently celebrated his eighth month birthday and that caused me to think about random things. I figured I would share some of those with you, really because I have a lot of free time..(hah!)
1. When you go to the H.E.B. and park in the "Customer with Child" assigned parking spot, they actually expect you to have the child with you. Simply showing them pictures of your child does not quell their frustration. I feel that those signs should be more specific.
2. Nothing takes "just a sec". In fact, I have begun to allot at least thirty extra minutes to any process. If I need to leave the house at 11 to go somewhere, Will will definitely have a big poopie, spit up, and grunge up whatever he is in. It's like he knows that I have to go somewhere or do something and has an amazing knack to add time to the process. And then he gives you that huge two toothed smile and it makes everything worth it.
3. Changing an 8 month old is like playing a game of twister, a game of twister that can end with the Dad getting peed on. Now that Will can move about so much, sitting still is simply not an option! So, as a parent, you have to figure out a way to hold him down, get the old diaper off and put a new diaper on. It ends up being "Daddy's left hand on Will's right leg, Daddy's right elbow on Will's left thigh...'Where is the diaper?'" I would estimate I have gotten one diaper on exactly right the first time in 1000 tries. What a terrible Baby Twister record!
4. I can't believe how much I love him. The first time I held him, I never expected to love that little, pale, ball of human so much. He is an amazing blessing from God and I just had no idea how awesome Will would be. I can't imagine all the stress the two of us are going to cause Mommy!
Lastly, I wanted to post some video of Will crawling/doing the worm. I apologize for his technicolor rainbow pants, but Will and Daddy have started Tacky Tuesday's as a tradition where Daddy finds mismatched clothes and puts them on. We don't go into public on Tuesdays.
